Timeless Fashion Tips for Men

Do you consider yourself stylish? Or are you one of those who don’t give a hoot what clothes you put on so long as you’re comfortable? Even if you don’t consider yourself fashionable, when you go out to work or attend a special occasion (or go on a date), you still need to look presentable.

Whether we like it or not, some, if not most people, would judge us based on our appearance. This is why looking decent is something we aspire for every time we go out.

To make sure we look good when we step out of our house, we have to maintain a wardrobe that has a good range of clothes. And this is not necessarily an expensive enterprise. Not sure how to do it? Read on for some helpful tips.

Go for Good Quality

Here’s the principle: invest in something that has excellent quality even if the price is quite high. If the quality of the item you buy is high, there’s a higher chance that it’s going to last longer. This is certainly better than buying something cheap which doesn’t last long, so you end up buying another one to replace it. And the vicious cycle continues.

If you make an initial spending for great-quality items, you have more assurance that those items will be there for the long term, even they’re a bit pricier.

Load Up with Neutral Colors

When buying clothes, invest more in those that have neutral or universal colors so they can be mixed and matched with other garments easily. Some neutral colors you can include in your shopping are black, brown, gray, khaki and white.

Of course, you don’t have to limit your neutral colors to just one shade. For example, for brown, you can go from desert sand to chocolate brown. For grey, you can have fifty shades...never mind.

Invest Time as Well

Busy people usually don’t have enough time to spend on their clothes-shopping. Shopping for them is more of a cursory activity, usually purchasing the first good item that catches their eyes. Even fitting a shirt takes them only a few seconds due to other commitments.

This is something you should avoid if you want to get the best stuff. Schedule a time in the week when you’re not rushing to do other things. Before parting with your hard-earned dollars, be sure to scrutinize every item you’ll be putting into your shopping cart. Check the fit, the style, the color, and even small things like runs or snags. A small undetected run can lead to damaged fabric.

Give Your Clothes Some TLC

That’s tender loving care, in case you’re wondering what that acronym stands for. Just like with any piece of property you have --- whether it’s a device, your car, your home, or your clothes ---- the key to making them last longer is to take good care of them.

If you don’t have a closet in your home, be sure to store your clothes in a cool, clean and dry place. Don’t use mothballs, as they smell terrible and can pose as a hazardous material to kids and even to pets. Instead, use natural wooden cedar balls. They are safer and also smell better.

Make sure you also check your clothes on a regular basis to see if they’re beginning to collect dust or if there are creepy crawlies beginning to inflict some damage on your clothing items.

You don’t have to keep buying new clothes to meet the demands of your lifestyle. Keeping these tips in mind will help ensure that your wardrobe operates like a well-oiled machine, ready to yield whatever the occasion requires.
